Red and White BBQ Sauce

These Red and White BBQ Sauces are a great way to add bold flavors to your grilling season. Whether you're a fan of the tangy and smoky red sauce or the creamy and spicy white sauce, these will elevate any dish and become a staple in your BBQ arsenal. Enjoy them on burgers, roasted veggies, or anything you’d like to sauce up!

Ingredients
  

Red BBQ Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons 30 ml olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • ½ cup 120 ml bourbon
  • 1 cup 240 g ketchup
  • cup 160 ml water, divided
  • ¼ cup 60 g organic dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons 16 g chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon 7 g smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon 15 g Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml molasses

White BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup 225 g vegan mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons 30 g prepared horseradish
  • 2 tablespoons 28 ml agave
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml distilled white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions for Red BBQ Sauce:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3-5 minutes, or until softened. Add the garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Slowly add the bourbon and cook for 4-6 minutes until the bourbon has completely cooked off.
  • Add the ketchup, ⅓ cup (80 ml) of the water, brown sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika, mustard, vinegar, and molasses. Stir well.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Transfer to a high-speed blender, add the remaining ⅓ cup (80 ml) of water, and blend until smooth.
  • Let cool before storing in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Instructions for White BBQ Sauce:

  • In a high-speed blender, combine the mayonnaise, horseradish, agave, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
